AWS Data Center Campus
Ceremonial Groundbreaking
A celebration it was! On Monday, September 30, 2024, the Chamber hosted business leaders and state and local elected officials to celebrate the $11 billion Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center project in St. Joseph County with a ceremonial groundbreaking, held in the Discovery Ballroom at the Century Center. AWS representatives and contractors were on hand to engage with the 400 attendees and share their plans and commitment. This is the single largest capital investment project in Indiana’s history and is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs.
Speaking during the ceremony, moderated by Chamber President & CEO Jeff Rea, were VP, Global Data Centers for AWS, Kevin Miller; Governor Eric Holcomb; Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg, Congressman Rudy Yakym; St. Joseph County Commissioner Carl Baxmeyer; and Ivy Tech SVP Molly Dodge. Following the ceremony, attendees were able to connect with AWS general contractors and sub-contractors, while also participating in experiential learning opportunities through educational demo trailers which were on hand in the Century Center parking lot.
